We are the Diachenko family. I am Steve and my wife is Katie. Our two children are Joseph and Esther. Our home is in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, and we are members of Bethany Bible Church in Hendersonville, North Carolina. For some time, we have sensed God’s calling on our lives to take the gospel of Christ to the people of Australia. Particularly, we believe that the Lord would have us to plant a gospel-preaching church in the town of Innisfail, North Queensland. Currently, we are preparing and raising support to accomplish this goal.
We hope you will enjoy browsing this site and finding out more about what the Lord is calling us to do in Australia. We have included information about ourselves so you can get to know us better as well as information about the needs of Australia and our goals for meeting those needs.
Our theme verse is Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.”
Like Paul, we are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ: it is the only way of salvation from sin. Its accomplishment is the great story of history. It is the answer to the deepest needs of mankind and is God’s perfect plan for His eternal glory and our eternal good. God sent His own Son in human flesh to come to earth in order to die in our place and rise again to give us eternal life. That gospel provides sufficient salvation, true purpose for living, and ample reason for worship and adoration throughout eternity. Christ has changed our lives through this message and we believe that He has called us to preach the good news in the country of Australia.
We are absolutely committed to the priority of preaching and teaching Christ so as to point sinners to Him for salvation and build up His people in the true knowledge of Him. We firmly believe that we are not the answer for Australia. Only the Person and Work of Jesus Christ can meet peoples’ deepest needs. Thus, our desire is to know nothing among the Australians except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
One of our favorite hymns is “There is a Fountain Filled with Blood” by William Cowper. Cowper’s words powerfully sum up the theme of our ministry.
“There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel’s veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains.”
Our aim is to present Christ and the salvation accomplished through His blood that guilty Australians might experience the blessed cleansing that Christ offers.
Cowper continues in the third verse of his song to write,
“Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its power,
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved, to sin no more.”
The gospel message that brings sinners to Christ is the same message that enables believers to walk the Christian walk. We desire to preach Christ and His blood not only to see sinners converted but to see saints built up and sanctified. We desire to instill in Australian Christians that confidence that the blood of Christ will never lose its power.
The last stanza of Cowper’s hymn reads,
“When this poor lisping, stammering tongue
Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
I’ll sing Thy power to save.”
The gospel is what saves us, what sanctifies us in the Christian life, and what will inspire our admiration and praise throughout eternity. Our deep desire is to see Australian Christians standing around the throne of God one day, praising the Lamb for sinners slain.
